Spooky Houses That You Already Know, Part 3

SPOOKY HOUSE TIME! Who is excited? This isn't the first time I have introduced you to spooky houses. It isn't even the second.
This is your THIRD chance to catch a glimpse of some seriously spooky, jump out of your seat houses (and other random photos that I think you need to see).

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Not spooky at all. This house is quite beautiful. But they had a talking black cat who had the cheesiest jokes I have ever heard. Some people may say that a cheesy cat is still not that spooky. Those people would be wrong. But Sabrina was a witch and there we have the spook!

This show was on TGIF. So, I watched. Please go ahead and pretend like I wasn't 13 (or some other embarrassingly old age) when I was still watching TGIF.

Even though I saw way more episodes of STTW than I would like to admit I have no idea who ANY of the people in this photo are except Sabrina and the red head. WHERE IS THE CAT? AUNT HILDE? OTHER AUNT? Where are you hiding?

Adventures In Babysitting is still probably one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. How about that scene where the kids are tightrope walking on the beams in the warehouse? SCARY! And Chris's friend, Brenda, thinking she made friends with a cat but it was a rat.

The part where they break down on the side on the highway and the hook-handed trucker stops to help them.

All of those scenes were spooky. The house itself... not so spooky. But I just thought I would share one of my top 5 scariest movies with you.

Spooky Houses That You Already Know, Part 2

A few weeks ago, I kicked off the Halloween season with some spooky houses and I promised you there would be more to come. Today, I am here to tell you that my promise has been kept.

Let's take a look at a couple of houses that rank pretty high on the spooky scale.

Edward Scissorhands

My buddy, Johnny Depp, played a very spooky looking, scissor-handed dude in Tim Burton's 90s classic. He lived in a castle that would be appropriately scored on the spooky scale.

He spent a lot of his time in suburbia where the houses were spooky in their own way. And pretty awesome in their own way too!

He spooked up the houses by trimming the shrubs like this

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice is another one of Tim Burton's classics from the 90s. I could write an entire post about Tim Burton's spooky houses. But I won't get crazy- I'll just keep it to just these two.


In the movie, the owners of this beautiful farmhouse pass away. Then, Winona Ryder and her 'rents move in.

They modernize the heck out of the house.

The original owners go all ghost on Winona and her family and try to spook them out. They even bring Beetlejuice in to help them. Winona eventually decides that ghosts are da bomb and performs a little Harry Belafonte, "Day-O" number.

And there you have one spooked up house.



Another spooky house bites the dust. Well, not really. But we are two spooky house posts down and one more to go.

Would You Rather Question of the day:

WYR... spend one night in a sleeping bag basically hanging from a cliff in Yosemite (like the guys pictured below)

Speaking Of I Dream Of Jeannie...

My dad is in Cocoa Beach, Florida right now. And that just happens to be where the majority of I Dream Of Jeannie was set.

Coincidences gone wild! Earlier today I was talking about I Dream Of Jeannie houseboats and now my dad is living it up on I Dream Of Jeannie Lane.

He went and checked out Lori Wilson Park. The park showcases Florida's natural coastline. It has a nice boardwalk surrounded by nature, hammocks, and plenty of normal park things.

He came across this sign and took a photo for me.

They even named a street after I Dream Of Jeannie.

And now for a few IDOJ facts:

• Jeannie was 2000 years old.
• Barbara Eden was pregnant during the filming of season 1.
• Tony and Jeannie finally got married in season 5. However, the guests were told they were not allowed to take photos. Genies don't show up in photos (duh!).
• On the show, all of the characters drove Pontiac automobiles.
• Season 1 was filmed in black-and-white because NBC did not want to pay for the extra expense of filming it in color (The network did not believe the series would last beyond one season.
• Although IDOJ was set in Cocoa Beach only one episode was actually filmed there.

Spooky Houses That You Already Know!

Since it is the month of all things spooky I decided to give you a new look at some spooky houses that you probably already know!

Let's start this post off right... Bewitched style! The Bewitched house may not exactly be spooky but it was certainly witch-y. Bewitched was on Nick at Night's TV Land when I was growing up. I got plenty of chances to familiarize myself with Samantha, Darrin (both of the actors who played him), Tabatha, Endora, Uncle Arthur, and the rest of the crew.

 Samantha was a witch so she was able to easily decorate her house however she wanted. And it turns out that she wanted to decorate it with a mural of Rome? and a penguin!

Hellllllo to my favorite shade of green washer and dryer!

Kelly, did you borrow her fluffy doily collar for your school photo?

What in the world is going on with that stove situation???

I'm loving the retro-ness of it all. (Yes, I realize that it wasn't retro at the time).

These cabinets look like they could use a little 80s cabinet makeover!

Addams Family
Now we are getting to the stuff that ABC Specials on October 31st are made of. The Addams Family had one of the spookiest houses in history. You don't even have to take a look at their house- just knowing that a member of their family WAS A HAND should give them some serious points on the spooky scale.

That man is scared!

They do what they wanna do. Say what they wanna say. Live how they wanna live. Dance how they wanna dance... Addams Family.

Whoa! Who just did a little Hammer-dance as they sung that song? Me! I had that single on casette and Kelly had the whole soundtrack. WE WORE THOSE TAPES OUT!

Ghostbusters
This is another spooky house that isn't so spooky. But they had ghosts of all colors and crazy machines to suck them up. That definitely equals spooky. So, let's take a peak at the world of the ghosts and the busters. After all, if there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood. Who ya gonna call?

PS A few years ago I saw the Ghostbusters Ectomobile driving around Charlotte all decked out in Ghostbuster-ness. That was pretty exciting!

You get major extra credit if you are able to turn your car into the Ectomobile as part of the costume.

Someone made a floor plan of the Fire House that was the spooooooky Ghostbusters headquarters.
