A Little Foodie Talk For You!

Gotcha... this post certainly isn't for Foodies!

Today, I'm going to show you how I make something that everyone probably already knows how to make... French Toast (fascinating)! And, I'll tell you Cora's five favorite foods (double fascinating)!

Before we get started, I have to tell you about the mistake I made yesterday. It was one of the world's biggest mistakes... I forgot to include An Interview With A Second Grade Writing Genius in my list of my favorite posts. That post is probably my overall favorite and I forgot to include it. I have fixed the problem and added it in. For those of you who haven't read it yet please take the time to do so!

French Toast
It is easy to make and not so bad for you. Since I don't eat meat I have to make sure I get enough protein and eggs are a good way to get it. Eggs kind of freak me out but I don't mind when they are hidden. So, french toast is a good answer for me!

I usually make between 8 and 10 slices and then I refrigerate the extras to have for breakfast later in the week.

I will list the ingredients below but I am totally guessing because I don't follow a recipe. It always works out though!

  • a fairly deep sheet pan
  • a sauce pan
  • a pot
  • cooking spray
  • about 3 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 8 pieces of bread
  • a dash of vanilla

  1. First, heat your milk up to room temperature. You don't want it to be hot at all, just warm. While you are doing that, put your butter in the microwave to melt it. You are trying to get the milk and the butter about the same temperature. You don't want either of them to be hot.
  2. Add the butter into the milk pot when you think they are about the same temperature.
  3. Next, add the eggs and stir them up. If the milk and butter are too hot the eggs will cook and that is no bueno (especially if you are trying to hide the eggs like me).
  4. Add the vanilla and cinnamon.
  5. Lay your bread out on the pan
  6. Pour your concoction over the bread and let it soak in for a couple of minutes.
  7. While you are waiting, spray your sauce pan with cooking spray and give it a few seconds to heat up.
  8. Put whatever amount of bread fits on your sauce pan and cook it up!
  9. Make sure to flip!
  10. Eat your fabulous Parisian Bread

Now, onto Cora's five favorite foods. I told your her top five a few months ago but things have changed.

ps In case you hadn't already figured it out this post is mainly for the grandparents and Aunt Kelly (excluding the french toast part. I don't know who that is for... nobody really needs a french toast lesson).

Bread
She calls it "bad" and she is constantly running around looking for the "bad" bag. When she finds it she will point continuously while saying "bad bad bad bad" until someone gives her some. She likes it in the form of waffles, french toast, pretty much anything bread-like.

Tomatoes
Scott's dad grew lots of super delicious tomatoes this past summer and he was nice enough to share a lot of them with us. Cora was in heaven! Whenever she ate them I told her that Pop (Scott's dad) grew them. Soon, every time she saw a tomato she was whispering "pop-pop-pop." She still likes to whisper his name rather than say it out loud.
Cora eats tomatoes so fast that there are tomatoes coming out of her mouth as she is trying to shove more in.

Anything off my plate
This one was a carry over from her last favorites. For the most part, Cora is obsessed with whatever I'm eating... until she spots a lima bean on my plate. Then she starts to doubt my plate for a few days.

Cheese
Cheese is still kickin' it on her favorites list. She likes to talk about "che zzz." In fact, the first time she answered my question I asked her, "do you want some avocado for lunch or maybe some quinoa? What do you want for lunch?" She walked up to the fridge, pointed and said "che-zzz." It was so exciting to know that we could now communicate (about cheese, anyway)!

Oranges
Oh my goodness does this little babytoddler love oranges! She gets them every meal. I give her half a slice of orange in between bites of everything else so she doesn't have time to pull the rest of the food out of her mind and make a "Ugh, Mom... what are you feeding me" face.

I HAVE BLOWN YOUR MIND with this post!!! Don't deny it!!!

Would You Rather Question Of The Day

WYR... always look like you have wet hair
or
always have spinach in your teeth?

Mama, is this what you were looking for when you said you wanting the WYRs to be more thought-provoking?
I just asked Scott for a WYR suggestion and he didn't have one. I thought of this one and started laughing out loud at how bad it was. I asked him the question and he joined in on the chuckles. And now you all have shared in the fun that I call WYR-question-formulating at the Ross-Spencer household!

  4. That is really cool that Cora is starting to verbally communicate. I predict that it won't be long before you are ready for a break from her communication. I'm going against the field with the WYR, spinach teeth. I will just try to keep my mouth closed.

    1. Gosh that is hard to imagine that I'll need a break from her communication but there might be something to that.
I think I'm going spinach teeth too.
