Bad News, Girl Scouts

Yesterday, I had a message for Google. Today, I have a song for the Girl Scouts.

And the song goes like this:
"Gather round, you friends of mine... It's cookie time. It's cookie time. It's cookieee tiiime." If you don't recognize that song, pause your life, hit the rewind button and get yourself back to 1989. Pop Troop Beverly Hills into the VCR and listen to Shelley Long and her girls sing about cookies! While you're at it, go ahead and watch them go on their first camping trip where they tell spooky stories about their hair dressers giving them perms instead of body waves. Make sure you check out the montage where they get all their badges.

Back to cookie time... Dear Girl Scouts, The jig is up! It is now cookie time all year long!

As much as I love Samoas (I professed my love to them here), I am going to be laying low on them this year. I won't be the lady who chases the Girl Scouts down all over town to make sure she gets her freezer sufficiently stocked. My lovely, lovely sister is in town right now and she surprised me with a life-changing discovery. Harris Teeter sells Samoa knock-offs. I am here to tell you that they are 100% exactly the same as a Samoa, just $2 cheaper, available all year and come judgement-free (I saw those Girl Scouts giving me the crazy eye when I left carrying an arm-load of cookies).  I have to admit, now that I know I can get Samoas whenever I want them, I don't really want them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I haven't totally pigged out on my sister's cookies, but those 2 boxes should tide me over for a while.

How did Kelly happen to find these cookies? The obvious way, of course. My sister flew in from Michigan on Friday night. She arrived in time to see Cora for a few minutes before bed. Scott made dinner. And then Kelly accompanied Scott on a couponing trip!

Here is what Scott bought:

The green stuff in the bag is kale. The 3 containers that looks like they hold salt- hold salt. Sea salt, to be exact.

Now it is time for the guessing game! Guess wisely and keep in mind that a lot of the things Scott bought were not on sale. It is triple coupons at the Harris Teeter, people! A what whaaaaat!!! I mentioned here that this is the website Scott uses to get his deals. Saving money has never been easier!

And the final price was.....

Gotcha! I'll give it to you tomorrow! Let's see your guesses in the comments. Hint: It wasn't a crazy deal... just a good deal.

Aunt Kelly isn't even pretending like she is here to see me or Scott. This trip is all about Cora. Cora was THRILLED to see her! Smiles galore.

Especially when they were sliding together.

Then Cora got on her cell phone and started running all over the place.

Kelly being here has given me some time to get a few things done. So, let's take another peak at what the month of January (organization overhaul) is going to look like on Never Listless!

I spent my Cora-free time organizin' the day away!

I gathered up all of my random piles and threw them on the bed in the funky, retro bonus room.

As you can see in the background, Kelly spent her Cora-time having a tea party with Big Bear.

Then, I started sorting. The idea was that everything was going to have a new home. Nothing would return to the green box. The green box is "Laura's box." I put all of my random stuff in there that is floating around the house and doesn't really have a home.

That didn't happen. I never ever get as much done as I want to. So, after a couple hours of hard work the pile looked like this:

The Target bag is trash and the blue basket is recycling. Everything else found a proper home.

I decided that I was happy with that, for now. When January rolls around I will readdress the problem and that box will be E.M.P.T.Y.!

OK, Girl Scouts, I have thought about it. I used to be a Girl Scout and I have decided that I will still buy your cookies. But let's work on something even better than Samoas... maybe a Samoa-Thin Mint combo. That would be out of this world!

To the rest of the world: You are welcome for the Public Service Announcement about the knock-off Samoas!

Now, for the Would You Rather Election Question of the day!
